Space Marine 2 - New Primaris Assault Marines?

 Hi all

On my 5000th viewing of the official preview trailer for Space Marine 2 it dawned, it dawned upon me that our man Titus did a death from above on some 'nids.

Seeing as there are no units out currently, in the Primaris range, that can wield a chainsword and a jump pack, I decided to take a closer look!

As you can see from these pictures, they are obviously not the old MK7 jump pack - nor any of the preceding or proceeding designs. It looks a bit like the Inceptor jump pack - it has the balancing fins - but it is far more slim and it isn't built into the shoulders and collar of the armour.

Could we be looking at a new Primaris Assault unit??

I would love to hear your thoughts so please comment below what you think!

Til next time!

Space Marine 2 Trailer

In the 28 years since I started playing Warhammer it has been inevitable that there would be breaks as exams, employment and just general life got in the way of my escapism. There was always something that dragged me back - the stunning Eldar artwork for a new codex in 1998, the release of Lord of the Rings models a few years later and the amazing release of Space Marine on PS3 (heralding the end to the last break I had in the hobby).

I loved the feel of Space Marine, it was like Gears of War but in a (subjectively) way cooler universe. The hordes of Orks and the challenge of Chaos marines created a beautiful dynamic which helped capture what it felt like to be a Space Marine. I spent many, many hours playing the multiplayer with my brother Drake (from Battle Bunnies and Titan Owners Club) and a couple of friends from work at the time who were gamers but not tabletop gamers. Needless to say they both play Warhammer now lol.

So, naturally, last nights announcement has me positively giddy with the prospect of playing as Titus again and I can’t wait to see some more of the details. The small gameplay teaser suggests it is more of the same that we all loved from the first outing - except against hordes of ravening Tyranids. This is something I definitely want to be covering here and I can’t wait to get a few more details later today!!

And stay tuned to https://www.warhammer-community.com today as they are having another two Space Marine 2 articles go up throughout the day.

Until next time, stay fluffy!

Kaelo Rylanus - Hobby Update

Hi all

As I said in the last post, we are getting back to a bit of normality now with the studio nearly being finished. We have been moving bits around this weekend and started the foundations of the first table. Here is a bit of a sneak peak of the studio:

We are currently sourcing a few cameras so that we will be able to start expanding our coverage to live videos and YouTube content. Very exciting!

I am going to try to start a regular hobby update at least once a week to keep myself motivated over the winter months. I am currently finishing a few projects including a Thousand Sons cult, an Ultramarine detachment and 2000pts of Custodes. I will share some progress and fluff in my new series of articles.

I also have 4 copies of the Black Templar box set to use for my next project - my own chapter creation - the Ultima Templars. I will have a short piece of fiction soon to share about the chapters creation and roll within the Dark Imperium.

Really looking to get going and we have some projects we can’t discuss too so don’t forget to follow us as we start going forward!

Stay fluffy

Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos - Review

Hi everybody

Today I wanted to take a look at a model that GW has recently sent us to review - Bastian Carthalos!

This model was previewed a few months back and is absolutely incredible.

He was an absolute dream to put together and GW seem to have perfected invisible seams in cloak creases as you can see below:

The scenic base is nicely detailed too:

One thing I was particularly keen on, was to see how he would fit alongside Guilliman as a potential Vulkan proxy. Here is the answer:

Sadly, not too well. As Vulkan was actually taller than Guilliman then I don’t see this working unfortunately.

Still, with a big preview coming this weekend who knows?! There could be a Primarch coming right around the corner!

Finally, I wanted to give our readers a bit of a reason as to why we have been fairly quiet of late:

Most of our readers found us through event coverage and news, something which has been massively affected by Covid. Coupled with a hectic real life as people made up for lost time during Lockdowns 1, 2 and 3 in the UK - between our 5 authors we have seen 2 engagements, 1 wedding, numerous puppies and kittens being rescued, 3 house moves etc etc. However, following discussions we had as a blog earlier in the year we have decided to move into YouTube videos and expand our Facebook and Instagram presences. We have even had a studio converted which we will be able to have some awesome battles on in the coming weeks/months.

Basically, we are back and we have some great content to start sharing and hopefully get back to our pre-covid output.

As always drop me a message here or my Instagram if you want a chat or have any questions!

Stay fluffy!

Old Bale Eye Preview - Warhammer +

Hi everybody

The authors of the blog were asked to view a special preview of Old Bale Eye on Thursday night and we absolutely leapt at the opportunity.

First I would like to say that I have been wanting legitimate Warhammer animations, movies and TV shows for nearly 30 years and so I was very excited by the announcement earlier this year and I have been extremely eager to see the level of the quality that Warhammer + will offer. So here are our thoughts and feelings.

Kaelo:
The level of the animation is pretty good. For a new studio finding it’s feet I would say that Old Bale Eye is solid animation that would have easily fit in with the quality of cartoons I would have watched when I was a child. If you were to compare it to some of the more established studios, like the ones who make The Dragon Prince, Castlevania or Dragons Dogma for Netflix then sadly it does fall a little bit short. However the team obviously has the skill to be able to work upon this and improve.
For me it was like a lore video but with the narrator as an Ork. The voice acting was fine and the script was ok. It definitely felt like an animated version of an old comic strip, full of static animations, screen swipes etc to make the animation more interesting without creating a lot of extra work for the team. Personally, I don’t think that Old One Eye, despite being entertaining, will be enough to swing any fence-sitters of the new platform. It’s not good enough to make someone scream ‘hell yeah!’ and it’s not poor enough to make someone scream ‘hell no!’ It is just…average.

Ghroll:
Overall, I enjoyed the presentation. The battle reports, painting and lore videos all look like something I will definitely be watching going forward. On to the animation they showed. I feel this was a bad choice to show in an attempt to get people to sign up. My rational for this is it was just a stand alone animation. Had it of been episode 1 of a series, then people would have wanted to see what was going to happen in the next episode. The animation style was very much like a comic, as you would expect from Hammer and Bolter, but this style isn’t for everyone. That being said, I will still be signing up just for the other content, and if the animation is enjoyable, then I will count that as a bonus.

Aveinus:
I see myself as a fair person when it comes to reviewing products and content so what I will say is that is there amazing potential for animations and tv shows within the warhammer universes and I can’t wait to see what they do in the future. However, I have to say I think Hammer and Bolter is a bit of a miss for me as their flagship animation to launch Warhammer + with. As an animation I quite like the comic book style but I found it to just be an overview of their conflict rather than a short story. With more dialogue and written as a continuous series, I think I would really enjoy it. I understand there can’t be a lot of depth there in 20 minutes but covering their whole history was certainly ambitious. It is early days though and I still think Warhammer + is definitely something to be excited about and I’ll be signing up for the variety of content and the exclusive models over the tv at this point! But with Astartes in the works we’ve got a lot to look forward too! Imagine a Gaunts Ghosts or Eisenhorn tv series done properly!

Zak:
My thoughts on Old Bale Eye, Quality animation and graphical style, epic and engaging music, which really ties it together combined with a gripping and informative story, made for an incredibly enjoyable experience whilst not being dragged out for too long.
I found there was enough exposition/back story in the storyline/animation to help form an understanding of who the characters where within the 40k universe and I understood their actions and reasoning. I can't wait to watch more in the Hammer and Bolter series and look forward to more from Warhammer Plus.

Warhammer 40,000 - Kill Team Pariah Nexus Review

Hi all

Bit of a rushed unboxing today as we only received the box set 2 days ago due to postal delays.

So here we go:

The box:

The usual side opening with slide out tray, packed to the brim with sprues!

Heavy Space Marine Captain:

Heavy Intercessors - the multipart ones!

The new multipart Flayed Ones - these are stunning but a real ball-ache to assemble!

Chronomancer - lovely model which comes across 2 wee sprues

All the new terrain:

The rulebook - please note that you actually need the core Rulebook to be able to use this. It does, however, include all the newer unit rules for the models in Indomitus (for both factions). There are also new rules for different dynasties and some new missions. The only thing I would have liked to have been included is a more apparent explanation of the terrain - I know the names but no idea what they do...

Here are the new objective cards too - going to have a better look when we have a game on Tuesday night.

Here is the new double sided board. This is great to really flesh-out what the inside of Necron structures may actually look like. I think I will try to make some of these and walls from plastic card in the future.

If you have any questions about this product or Kill Team in general then please leave a comment or send a message to Kaelorylanus@gmail.com!

Thanks for stopping by and reading!

Kaelo Rylanus 2021 Preview and Competition!

 Hi everybody

The blog has been a lot quieter than usual since the pandemic hit and it is such a shame. There are several factors for this such as inconsistent content, lockdown blues and demand (since the start of WarCom we have seen our viewing numbers diminish which also hits author motivation).

Today I wanted to take the opportunity to announce my return from hiatus, my plan for the coming year and also a wee competition to see if we can start to get the ball rolling.

Here are the goals I have set for myself this year:

1. Video Battle Reports - First and most important I want to start playing more games and producing video battle reports. At Age of Warhammer, we are mostly narrative players so the results of these games will be linked together by written narratives to show the decisions made and the resulting consequences. We will be trialling this with a skirmish campaign, to begin with, most likely Warcry. We hope to be able to start this over the coming months.

2. Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Army - I want to complete the background and structure for my own Space Marine Chapter as well as paint the whole army. I will provide regular updates for this but am currently at the mercy of the weather due to undercoating. I want to get the whole army complete by the end of May.

3. Warhammer 40,000 Zone Mortalis - I have a 6'x4' board, 4.5 copies of Dark Uprising, 2 Strongholds and a guide from Rapid Tabletop on how to make awesome modular boards. This is something I will probably start tackling in May time.

4. Warhammer 40,000 Thousand Sons Army - I actually am well through this project and the hope is that I will have it complete by the end of April.

5. Star Wars Legion Clone Trooper Army - I have actually been dabbling in this game since I saw Mandalorian season 2. Although it is not part of the Warhammer universe I still feel I would like to share the progress. If readers are not interested then I may create a sister blog for content. I would, again, like to get this complete by May.

6. Boardgame - I am working on getting my first boardgame published, which is something I excited to share in the coming months so hopefully, you will all like it too.

7. Drakenheim - Many of our longer-term readers will know that I tried to Kickstart my own wargame, Drakenheim, in 2019. Due to naivety, ambition and personal reasons the game didn't quite take off and it has had to go on a bit of a backburner from real life. However, I am frequently asked about the project and it is something I would still love to trial at a less ambitious scale, to begin with. If you are a 3D modeller or sculptor or just interested in more information please feel free to email me at Noctisgamingltd@gmail.com for more information.

8. Author - I would very much like to speak to anybody interested in writing articles for the blog. For more details please contact me at kaelorylanus@gmail.com.

So, finally, let's talk about the competition. All you have to do to enter is follow the blog and leave a comment below saying the following:

1. What goals you have this year?

2. What from my list above are you most looking forward to and why?

The competition ends at midnight (UK time) 28/02/2021 and the prize will be a voucher worth £35/$50 or 40euro (or local equivalent - this may fluctuate up or down value-wise if you would like to know the exact amount please contact me - kaelorylanus@gmail.com - with the details of your local store and I will see what values they do) for a local gaming store. A name will be randomly generated and announced the first week of March.

To get extra entries, send a screenshot of the various places you have shared a link to this page to kaelorylanus@gmail.com!

I look forward to reading your responses and I will be back tomorrow with a review of the Hedonites of Slaanesh Battletome.

Age of Warhammer

Hi everyone!

What a year!

We have all been so busy over the last few months that the hobby has really taken the back seat. We are breaking up for the Holiday period and want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support and messages this difficult year.

We are hoping that next year will bring a lot more regular content as lockdowns are eased and life returns to a new normal.

All the best everyone! See you in the new year!

Warhammer 40,000 - Imperial Armour Compendium

Hi all!

Today we are taking a look at the new Imperial Armour book for 9th Edition Warhammer 40,000.

Forge World used to be synonymous with the development and creation of large, specialist models for the Games Workshop ranges - they have created and developed a lot of my favourite designs you see on the tabletop today - and this book is the publication of the rules for many of those models. Many, but not all...

There are some very notable omissions in the form of the entire Corsair range and also the Aeldari Vampire to name a few (hopefully a Corsair range is on its way from GW as they are become more and more talked about in the lore).

There is no fluff in the book (except a 2 page spread on the FW originating Space Marine chapters and how to use them, and some fluff for Death Corps of Krieg) and maybe this heralds the end of those beautiful campaign times that FW used to create before they started developing the Horus Heresy and took over specialist games.

All in all it is a great value book for a group to share but unless you have multiple forces with multiple FW units, one of the FW created forces or you want to use Titans, I think it may be a bit on the pricey side.

Thanks for reading!

Warcry Catacombs Part 1 - Unboxing

Hi all

So this is just part one to show the inside of the box. The box is chockablock with goodness. The new gangs are both stunning and the catacomb terrain is really cool too. Most of the catacomb terrain is one or 2 piece so it goes together really quickly.

The set seems like really great value and is another opportunity to get hold of some of the terrain that was previously only available in the original starter set.

Tomorrow I will be showing the assembled catacomb terrain and the board as well as an in depth look at the instructions.
