Dispossessed Cannon

Hello everyone,

I’m back to show you my next completed project for my Dispossessed army.

I did start this cannon back in 8th edition so I’ve decided to give it a new paint job!

I’m really happy with the end product and it fits in well with my Warrior and Quareller units with their blue fabrics.

In my games it’s definitely been a bit hit and miss. In the last game it died horrifically to a 12 mortal wounding warp lightning cannon but in the game before it managed to help kill a ten strong unit of the Boingrot Bounders.

This is also the first larger base I’ve done and I’m happy with the results, although I feel the scheme doesn’t look quite as good on the small bases.

I have also recently built 30 warriors but it will be the Longbeards that I should be finishing next. I’ll give a work in progress update on the Dispossessed next week!

Dispossessed Quarrellers

Hello everyone,

I’m back to show you my Quarreller unit for my Disspossessed army!

There’s likely to be 30 of them eventually but I’ll only be aiming for 20 in the near future

They’ve been at a point of being almost finished for a while now but over the last few days I’ve been completing bases and a few details for a small game I have planned this week.

I’d like to complete some free hand writing on the banner for the quarrellers list of grudges but I have yet to summon the courage to give it a go!

I think some testing and practice will be needed before I go for it.

I’ve really enjoyed painting these guys as I think I’ve perfected my recipe for the blue but it is a long process of blending layers together.

For the blue I start with Caledor Blue into Teclis Blue Hoeth Blue and a final edge highlight of Lothern Blue. I do mix the paints at each stage to help the graduation from dark to lighter parts of the cloth or armour.

Gaming wise I think you have to take these guys in block of 20 or more so they can shoot twice. Hitting on 4’s isn’t great even with rerolling ones if you have your grudge in play. Plus if you just lose one of your twenty quarrellers you’ll lose the option to fire twice, therefore a unit of 30 is ideal. However at 360 points they’re a bit too pricey.

I also did a couple of very small conversions on these two models by just replacing their left hands with other options from the box. Not a big change obviously but I think it just makes the models look a bit more interesting than the standard poses for the champion and standard bearer.

Next time I’ll be showing you the cannon I’ve completed and based as well as the nearly completed Longbeards that are almost finished.

Dispossessed Hammerers

Hello everyone,

I’m back to show you my next completed Dispossessed unit the Hammerers!

This post should have been up over a week ago but a bug with the blogging app prevented me from posting it!

I’m really happy with how they’ve came out, I decided to go with a classic metallic look to the armour.

With the idea that Duardin would look after their weapons and armour and keep it in good condition.

The Hammerers in all their glory. I love the models and I will definitely be going for a unit of 20 but 30 could be a thing in the future.

It was difficult to add the blue to these models in order to tie them into the rest of the army but it will be the gems and the banner that will both be a mid to light blue.

The blonde boys on the left. I’ll be aiming to have blonde, brown, grey and ginger beards in the army.

I have also continued to work on the longbeards beards and I’ll have an update for you soon!

Although I still have about 100 models left to complete for 2000 points! Even with 40 models completed as it stands. Definitely a marathon for an army project!

Dispossessed Runelord

Hello everyone,

I'm back with another post to show you the models I have completed for my various projects. I am gradually making my way through my Dispossessed army with my runelord, warrior and hammerer units completed so far.

First to appear on the blog is my dwarf... I mean Dispossessed Runelord!

He doesn't have a name yet but he will be introduced once the campaign we're doing starts. Hopefully the first few skirmish games will happen during the next few weeks.

I will be adding a few grass tufts to his base and I may brighten some of the gold but other than that he is complete.

What's also nice is that he is another rescue from my Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf army. He's had a new paint job and I am now pretty pleased with him.

Because these guys are probably the best Dispossessed hero going I will be doing two of them.

Although there are only two Dispossessed heroes! (You can't count the Unforged because he's all but useless!)

Anyway, as for what I am currently working on, below is a work in progress shot of one of my new Longbeards...

I think he may still need a final highlight on the gold in this picture but that has since been completed.

If you are a Dispossessed player, then do not fear for you are not alone!

If you check out the Honest Wargamer podcast or their twitch there is a lot of love for the Dispossessed there as Nathan and Jonathan are both dispossessed players, plus there is a chap from Australia called Dispossesed Dan who is also interviewed frequently!

Aveinus Kaane: Hobby Update 1

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I have posted on Age of Warhammer, so I have decided in a bid to start providing more content on the blog whilst still posting on the Battle Bunnies, I will be doing a monthly hobby update. This will be to keep you up to date with my current progress in the world of fantasy wargaming plus any news or rumours I am personally excited about!

It will just be a monthly post but hopefully in the future when we get the campaign up and running there will be a second one from me on any campaign developments or battle reports we put together.

So, lets get started...

News & Rumours

So this section will just be my take on anything news or rumour related that I am personally excited about or that I am looking forward too. It won't be everything, but just the best bits or something I might want to have a moan about. Which brings me to this guy...

Don't get me wrong I do love the new Games Workshop and how they are now operating but I can't say I was pleased to see another stormcast hero revealed. Obviously it's great for stormcast players but could we please have a hero for another faction next time GW? I understand they are the poster boys of AoS but I think he is now the 16th leader option for the faction, from what I can see from the GHB 2017 points page.

Now a new plastic vampire would definitely be amazing to see but the model below is still pretty awesome, plus the new warrior queen that has also be revealed. So lets hope with the Malign Portents campaign we'll see a big death release!

But overall I am very happy with how things are going for AoS currently, I'm just hoping we'll see an updated faction release or a new faction release soon. I'm thinking Nurgle next and then maybe a death release. Not sure where we'll see the rumoured elf faction though!

What do you think will come next?

Warhammer Total War

So if you haven't played this game yet on the PC I thoroughly recommend you do so. It really is terrific and vastly superior in my opinion to the newest Dawn of War game. Creative Assembly have really done a great job.

Particularly with the new Mortal Empires update you can pretty much play as any race from the old world and I am sure the missing ones like the Tomb Kings will have a DLC soon or will be included in the third game.

I am a Dwarf player through and through so the Dwarfs or Clan Angrund have been my main choices to play as so far. I have been playing on the hard difficulty setting which really does provide you with a tough challenge. I may try my hand at the very hard difficulty setting in the future but its going to take some practice!

Below is a graphic showing the territory I have conquered.

It's not a great tactical overview but it shows you the current situation. The light blue to the east and south are my territories with a few scattered over towards the west and the mountains near to Bretonnia.

The red is the Empire and the yellow represents the Border Princes who are both close allies. With the brown being the last few Vampire Count settlements.

The initial challenge was quite hard, as I had to try to wipe out the Greenskins quickly and efficiently while I hoped Zhufbar and Karak Kadrin could hold off the vampires long enough for me to move north again after I destroyed the orcs. Thankfully they did and I then overwhelmed them, buy supporting the empire with gifts of gold to keep them closing in on them from the west!

Next month I'll be able to show some more progress, when I hope to confederate with Clan Angrund to deal with the powerful and concentrated wood elf armies!

Modelling and Painting

So onto the actual hobby progress...

As a player I am mostly interested in improving my painting and gaming. I do like the tactics and strategy involved with more competitive gaming so I am hoping when I have finished an army, i'll have the chance to try out another tournament. However, finishing an army is a long way off!

As I said previously I am a Dwarf player at heart so I have been working on the beginnings of a Dispossessed army for the last few months. So here are the first five hammerers I have almost finished...

Although they lack dynamic poses they really are lovely models and have been great to paint. The two on the front right hand side of the picture are the two most completed of the bunch. As I have finished the gem stones.

The haft of the hammer has not been completed yet as I am still deciding on the colour that will tie the army together cohesively but at the moment its looking like it will be a base of screamer pink and then it will be built up from there.

I am currently working on the war horn bearer who is in the background, I'll show you a better shot of him next time and also give you a look at the models from behind.

The goal is to complete these five with blonde beards before moving on to the next five who will have either brown, ginger or grey beards. I'll do them in batches of five until I eventually have a unit of 20!

Moving onto bases...

Something I have really wanted to improve with this army is my basing ability. In previous armies I have just done the bare minimum, but I know if I do want to enter painting competitions in the future I'll have to improve my basing a lot. So I have been doing a lot of testing.

I have settled on using slate chippings rather than cork, so some of the models will be stood on rocks whilst others will just be on dirt with smaller rocks scattered at their feet.

Above is what I have settled on colour wise, but I am now looking into what foliage and flock I can potentially use to make them look like a rocky Dwarven hillside but with some grass and flowers to make them interesting and eye catching.

I am also trying to make them fit well with the terrain we'll be using for where the Dwarves are situated in the campaign which is predominantly grass and rocks.

I'll have a lot more for you to see on this in my next post as I should have more foliage by that point. It really is just about testing things out at the moment to find the right look.

AoS Gaming

I have not played any games of age of sigmar for a while now, which is my fault for swapping from Ironjawz to a new army. Although I have been watching a lot on the Warhammer TV stream and looking into what kind of army I would like to build for the Dwarves from a campaign point of view and from a competitive point of view.

For the campaign it will just be a combination of the units I would like to use, so it will be a nice and fun army for my fellow bloggers to play against.

Where as for any future tournament I have been looking at how I could create a good list from what the Dispossessed have available to them (Which isn't much, so it will probably crash and burn! lol) Although I do like the challenge, so expect to see more on that next time.

Well thank you for reading and I will hopefully have even more to talk about next time, any questions just fire away below and i'll get back to them when possible!
