Kaelo Rylanus; Age of Sigmar Open Day Boards - Picture heavy

As promised yesterday, here is a better selection of images for the 2 boards. We were told that the green board shows the verdant homelands of the Sylvaneth and the barren board showed what an Orruk controlled area of the realms would look like. Finally, there was a city type board. Let's take a look at the Sylvaneth board first.

The trees were made from actual dried roots! Some of these had twigs or other roots attached using filler to make them bigger where desired.

For me, this is technically the best board I have ever seen. The use of different materials to create the realistic woodland effect were fantastic and the overall result was spot on.

The second board was made to show a barren landscape as if hordes of rampaging Orruks had scoured the land. This looked like mud you would find in your garden and the effect was perfect.

From dead trees to patches of boulders the barren design felt real. The dead trees were made in exactly the same way as the previous ones.

Finally was a sort of city board in AoS style. It really made me fancy giving a cobble stone city a go in the future probably based around the FW city board layouts for ease of design...food for thought.

I was lucky enough to talk to one of the scenery designers for a long time and he was very informative. He stressed to me that the realms are infinite and that anything you can imagine can exist, lava wasn't exclusive to the Realm of Fire and indeed you were encouraged to find and create your own areas in the realms to fight over. Be it Life, Death, or any other of the realms, it would be possible to find any type of terrain both realistic or imaginary. This has given me a fantastic idea that I will flesh out in the future.

So there we have it. Unfortunately the photos do not do the boards justice and I hope there is a future opportunity to see these again. I really want to know what type of boards you are all working on or any cool ideas you have - for boards or even areas of the realms you plan to fight over! Let me know below, subscribe or drop me an email sometime!

Thanks for reading, hope you have enjoyed the coverage.

AoS Open Day: New Fimir

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post to show you the new Fimir that is being worked on by Forgeworld at the AoS open day!

So here's what is already available from Forgeworld:

The Fimir Warriors

Fimir Warriors

This unit comes in a set of three warriors and it looks like Forgeworld really are looking to expand on this race.

Next up the Fimir Noble:

Unfortunately I couldn't find a better image than this, but its a lovely model!

So with them now having a Battleline unit and a Leader with the noble, lets have a look at what else might be available in the future!

Now if you look at the AoS matched play section, it has the rules for all of their AoS models. Without posting a picture of the points, there is a mention of a Fimir Dirach Balefield! It's classed as a leader for the race so maybe this is a named character for the Fimir? So it could be another model that is in the design process or a model that is already being worked on.

These are some pictures we managed to get of current work in progress models, the first one looks like a Fimir wizard:

I also over heard one of the designers saying this next model was a Fimir 'mother':

So I think it will be really interesting to see where Forgeworld go with the Fimir, I'll leave you with this old image of the Fimir below:

There seems to be a Fimir Mother on here :)

Kaelo Rylanus; Age of Sigmar Open Day

Hey all!

So today was the Age of Sigmar Open Day, the first of its kind and exactly the same format as the Forge World and Warhammer 40,000 Open Days. Bit of a mixed bag really. Although I really enjoyed the event, overall it was a fairly weak affair. Not because of what was there - which was absolutely brilliant - but more for what was not there, although the same could be said for the Warhammer 40,000 Open Day. I was pleased to see it so busy!

Games Workshop has NEVER previewed future releases or allowed early access to models in the past and sadly that hasn't changed here. It was nice to see some of the staff armies but that was really it - except for the Forge World section, which showed off quite a bit of WIPs as always. The Fimir looked fantastic and we got some information about them that was awesome, they will be getting their own post tonight too. I also got the impression that the whole Chaos Dwarf range will be getting updated to be more AoS aesthetically, more mobile poses and the such which is really cool!

Triss also had her massive Chaos Dragon on display and it is truly stunning. Just look at these pictures!!

And of the rider:

That's the wing in my hand, it was huge!

So, you were able also able to ask the GW designers questions and meet them all but they were tight-lipped as usual. My favourite part of the event was the 2 scenery boards based around the Sylvaneth and the Orruks. The Sylvaneth board was luscious and verdant with some beautifully crafted scenery and awesome models, as you would expect in the Realm of Life:

And the Orruk board was barren and bleak, yet looked spectacularly real. I took so many pictures of the boards and discussed much of the process of making them, I really hope to replicate similar in the future for use in AoS and Heresy:

I will be doing another post with an image dump for both the boards and some of the design insights I got. There was a pretty cool city style board there too which has given me some ideas for the future:

Bugmans had a Gore Grunta hotdog special on too which was ace! Hotdog, wrapped in bacon and covered in bbq pulled pork! Tidy!

That's it really. Do you have any questions? I will try to answer them. Also, leave your feedback below and I will collate it and pass it on to GW. What did you think of the event? What sort of things would you like to see in the future etc.

Thanks for reading, stay fluffy!

Kaelo Rylanus; Stormcast Errant-Questor Unboxing

Hello everyone!

This is my first of a few posts looking at today's Open Day. As the title suggests, let's have a look at the Errant-Questor model, available today for the first time. It is a really nice model, that I intend to use as my AoS Kaelo Rylanus character...once I give it a bald head lol

It comes in a nice little box:

The model comes in a tray with an instruction booklet:

Which also has the free rules:

The model itself is really nicely designed and looks like it needs almost no trimming!!

The rules for the Greatblade are really good! With some good dice rolling you can cause some serious damage, coupled with the fact that the Errant ignores enemies rend characteristic and he is a cool combat hero.

What do you all think of him? Will you be using one in your Stormcast Army?
